Vision

What design means to me is to make the environment we are living in smarter. With this I not mean the creation of highly sophisticated machines but rather to look for really smart, interactive and sustainable solutions. With smart I do not only mean smart materials but also intuitive interaction with products. The interaction should be as easy as possible so that people understand it immediately.

Nowadays many products tend to be very complicated. The possibilities are endless and sometimes I wonder why product are made the way they do. For example the box for the digital TV we have at home, I can only turn on the little box with the remote it comes with but I need the remote from the television to turn on the TV and change the volume. Then I wonder why they did not come up with a solution for that and cause all of these unnecessary procedures. I could just buy a universal remote but then I have two remotes that I not use. This is what typifies our society nowadays.

If this company thought of a way to use the existing remote for their TV box then they could also have contributed to a more sustainable world. This is where I want to contribute to as a designer myself. In my opinion that is what is going to play a big part in the future. Currently big companies are even a step behind if they don’t contribute to a greener environment.

As a designer I also want attention to detail. I feel that if the details are perfect it creates certain ‘peacefulness’ for the eye and this is what I like to accomplish with my designs. For example a detail in the final prototype was the vein that designed. This was a nice touch that really gave something extra to the design.
