Integrating Technology
This competency is improved by attending the HTML workshop, which thought me how to build a website for my showcase. I also have been working on the interface of our folding bike project. I had to design the interactive interface on the frame of the bike that makes the bike fold itself. This prototype has a touch interface that uses a capacitive sensor, so if you touch the metal parts on top, switches the light on. This is feedback for the user so he/she you know when something is happening. The metal parts can move towards each other to simulate the movement you would have to make in order for the bike to fold itself. These are the things I taught with the creative electronics course DG291 and I integrated them into my project.
'Although you did not literally integrate technology into your project, you did however research the technologies needed for your design concept. In addition you were able to implement technology in your prototype.' Coach: Janine Huizenga
In the GMIS project I learned a lot more about intergrading technology then I already did in my assignment creative electronics. Fist I experimented with sensors and after that I build a light glove for our project. This glove did not work in the end because of my design mistake. I did not build it strong enough so that it would survive a midterm demo day. This is something that I have to take with me for the next time.
After the light glove I did all the electronics for the prototype of the midterm demo day. After this we were heading for the final demo days and I also did the electronic for the final prototype. I was working with RDB LEDs and apparently I did not fully understand how they worked. So the day before the final demo day I tried to test if everything was going to work properly and I blew up half the RGD LEDs. Luckily someone who knew a lot about electronics helped me and told me how to fix the problem. I managed to fix half the lights and get them to work the way I would like them to. The next time I should dig in deeper into the background of the electronics. As you can see in my feedback from my creative electronics assignment he already told me that I should really pay attention to detail as it comes to electronics.
